This retreat community is many things: monastic hermitage, a community of dedicated lay residents-link to our team, a training institute-link to kamanna and a dana-based retreat center*. Our success is not measured by our ability to keep open a retret center but measured by the accessibility to Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. By coming together working closely, easily, and skillfully, we are shaping a vision for the future centered on commitment to action.

We are confined by no single sect, practice or lineage. We believe the time is now to create a far reaching, United Sangha whose mission IS Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha with an emphasis on action.

We welcome and encourage teachers from around the world; Be it yoga, Buddhism, Dao… Our retreats, refuge, course, and study is geared not toward a single practice or religion but development of being through practice, contemplation, and social action.

The cohesion that binds this center is our residential Sangha. We live together in an intentional community on grounds, working closely to empower the vision of Heartwood Refuge and Retreat Center.

We seek to easily embody the teachings of the Buddha; using treasure human life foundation we engage in missions of compassion both home and abroad. We represent the spiritual not the political as we address issues of human dignity and respect.
Skillfully  practicing Dharma, we work to train and train to work; employing Kammanna institute, we equip ourselves with the tools necessary to be a refuge both inwardly and outwardly on a local and global platform.
