Entering Jhana and Perceiving Emptiness

The Buddha spoke frequently about Jhāna and its importance as a foundation for the development of insight. However, often descriptions of Jhāna make it seem mysterious or unreachable. During this retreat, Bhante Suddhāso will guide us through an understanding of what Jhāna is and practical methods for reaching it; and how to use Jhāna as a basis for developing a direct experience of the impermanent, insubstantial nature of all phenomena


Bhante Sudhasso
Bhante Suddhāso is a Buddhist monk ordained in both Theravāda and Mahāyāna. The core of his monastic training was in the Thai Forest Tradition at Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery, under the guidance of Ajahn Pasanno (a direct disciple of Ajahn Chah); he has also received training at a variety of other monasteries in various Buddhist traditions. In 2016 he moved to New York City, where he co-founded Buddhist Insights – a non-sectarian Buddhist organization providing free meditation retreats led by monastics of all Buddhist traditions.
